We are heading off to the spectaular valleys and rugged coastlines of South Wales and to the beautiful Pembrokeshire National Park, the birthplace of some of the most infamous Pirates, such as the legendary Henry Morgan, Black Bart and Howell Davis.
South Wales boasts a whole variety of amazing historical and pre-historical sites and we will be visiting examples, including the Museum of Welsh Life, St. David’s the home of the Abbey and Cathedral and many Neolithic Chambered Tombs, Holy Wells and other megalithic sites. All this and some of the most breath taking scenery in Britain.
Our base for the four days will be the sea-front Clarence Hotel situated on Tenby's Grand Promenade. On this exclusive tour we will be entertained each evening by qualified and professional After Dinner Speaker Brian Halliwell, who has dedicated many years to the study of all aspects of piracy. Brian’s illustrated talks are packed with fascinating detail and they are guaranteed to enlighten, enthral and amuse. ________________________________________________ Friday October 22nd Christmas Eve We will begin our adventure by travelling down to South Wales. On the way we will take in the Museum of Welsh Life in Cardiff, the birth-pace of Henry Morgan.
Arriving in Tenby, we will book into the Clarence Hotel on Tenby,s spectacular sea front Grand Promenade in time to take in the air before dinner. After dinner we will be entertained by our first talk by Brian Halliwell. The hotel may then have entertainment and it is only a short walk through the walls to the old town. Christmas

Saturday October 23rd Christmas Day & New Years Eve After a relaxing breakfast we will have the morning to take in the historic fishing town of Tenby, with its defensive walls and spectacular sea views over the harbour and cove. Our afternoon’s tour today will take us to the Pembroke towns of St David’s, the location of the historical Abbey and Cathedral and Fishguard, the location of the Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood. We will also quest out the birth place of the legendary pirate ‘Black Bart’.

New Year's Day at the Clarence Breakfast from 8 am – 9.30 am Evening Talk Brian Halliwell Presents The Life and Times of the Woman Pirates ‘Hear the story of the woman pirates though the ages. A story that reads like adventure fiction, of wild women adventurers who became legends as they dared enter what was considered mans world, the highly dangerous profession of piracy on the high seas. ____________________________________________ Monday October 25th We will take the picturesque route home along the coast road of Mid-Wales and through the Cambrian Mountains into North Wales. To make the most of the day we will call off at interesting sites on the way. |
