Lindisfarne, Hadrian's Wall & Historic North East
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne - Reconstruction of Hadrian's Wall On this much requested weekend tour, we are heading to England’s stunning north-east coast. We will travel along Hadrian’s Wall exploring; the Banks Turret Mile Castle, the Temple to the God Mithras and Chesters Fort, that was built to guard the Roman bridge which carried Hadrian’s Wall over the River North Tyne. It has the best preserved remains of a cavalry fort in Britain. We will also visit the Mare & Foal standing stones, and have a break in the Nortumbrian town of Hexham, before heading to the pretty seaside town of Bamburgh, where we will be staying at the grand Hotel Victoria for B&B. On Sunday morning we will cross the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, where we will spend time at the Priory and in the castle grounds. We will then visit the town of Alnwick, with its picturesque square and the famous Barter Books, one of the biggest second hand bookstores in Europe. 2 Day Weekend - £245 (Single Sup 30)
