Our Speakers

William Murtha

William Murtha’s gripping talk, Dying for a Change, based on the book and true account about his fight to survive hypothermia in the freezing cold waters off the coast of Britain, will astound and astonish.

At a crucial time when his life was rapidly spiralling out of control, William was swept off his push-bike and out to sea by a twenty-foot freak wave. Drowning, losing consciousness and convinced that this was the end, he relived many pivotal moments from his past and experienced a life-changing conversation with a Higher Presence.

William’s compelling talk will inspire those attending to come face-to-face with their deepest fears about death and dying, and it challenges perceptions about emotions, life, God, miracles and why we are here. He will also share how a one in a billion miracle, (which was featured on the BBC’s 999 TV series with Michael Burke), saved his life.

William is a writer, philanthropist and activist for issues related to personal, social and global transformation.

“An amazing story! …takes away any doubt that there is an energy force out there ready to help us find our way…we need only listen.”
Susan Jeffers- Author of, Feel the Fear and do it Anyway

His second book, 100 Words-200 Visionaries Share Their Hope for the Future, which he will also briefly talk about, publishes May 1st, 2010. It features inspirational and specially commissioned ‘vision statements of hope’ from over two hundred of today’s most prominent global luminaries, change-makers and visionaries. Contributors include Alice Walker, Susan Jeffers, Neale Donald Walsch, Dan Millman and Jane Goodall.

Celia Gunn

For six years, Celia Gunn was deeply involved in the rebirth of a Native American tribe, the Sinixt First Nation; a shamanic journey that changed her life. Her memoir about this extraordinary experience, A Twist in Coyote's Tale, has inspired a film which will premier in Canada on 23rd April 2010. She will share her heart-warming story, and the vital relevance of traditional Native American wisdom to us all.

Celia Gunn is an author, novelist and gardener. A native of the county of Northumberland, her lifelong interest in spirituality took her to live for many years in Jerusalem, Israel and British Columbia, Canada. Now based in the West Country, she works with her husband Anthony Thorley (see above) on revitalising our connection with the land, the ancestors and creatures-other-than-human. Her first novel, A Dark Wind, was published in 2009, and her latest book, Simply Total Animals, publishes in Sept 2010. Currently working on the biography of an elder of the western mystery tradition, a saga set in ancient North America, and a book about the journey of healing, she finds respite in tending her beautiful woodland chakra garden.

For a free download of the first six chapters of A Twist in Coyote's Tale, a 5-min trailer for the film The Bone Game, and a virtual tour of the chakra garden, go to www.earthskywalk.com

Dr Anthony Thorley

Exploring the Song of the Earth - A new look at crop circles and landscape zodiacs

Anthony Thorley has been researching landscape energies, myths and traditions for over 30 years. He holds an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology and is currently pursuing a PhD on the conceptual basis of landscape zodiacs as sacred space. Together with his wife Celia Gunn, he leads ritual journeys throughout the year in sacred landscapes as a way of exploring and honouring the fundamental healing and transformational processes present in our human connection with land and sky.

In this talk Anthony will be exploring the mysteries of terrestrial zodiacs and crop circles as signs of our extraordinary times and profound expressions of a living enchanted landscape.

Hugh Newman

EARTH GRIDS - The Secret Patterns of Gaia's Sacred Sites

Is there a geometrical energy system that surrounds our planet? ... a super grid involving polyhedral forms, ley lines, earth energy currents, cymatics and archaeoastronomical alignments? Prehistoric maps reveal that the ancients ere surveying the Earth in the distant past and there is good evidence that our ancestors were up to something we have long forgotten. From UFO flight-paths to anti-gravity and crop circles, the grid has many astonishing claims attached to it. Hugh has also found evidence in South America that the Michael and Mary energy lines are a global phenomenon and megalithic sites 'enhance' these natural energies for various purposes. This multi-media resentation unravels the many grid theories to give an overview of this incredible subject.

Hugh's Biography: Hugh Newman is an earth mysteries and megalithic science researcher. He organises the Megalithomania Conferences, co-edits Avalon Rising magazine and is the 'Earth Energies and Divinatory Arts' coordinator at the Big Green Gathering. He has researched the Indigo child phenomenon and published a book on the subject. His most recent book, Earth Grids - The Secret Patterns of Gaia's Sacred Sites, has been published by Wooden Books. He is currently writing a book and producing a documentary about the Wandlebury complex near Cambridge. He is an honorary member of The Antiquarian Society and has spoken at conferences in the UK, Malta, Peru and America.

Kate Masters

Exploring the rich prehistoric culture in and around this little known region of France, situated in between Brittany and Normandy, examining its Dolmens and Menhirs. The talk will include examples of the giant single Menhirs from the earliest Megalithic culture, classic examples of the rectangular allee-couverte, quartz stone rows, sites with connections to Arthurian legends and Merovingian saints, Stele- later Christianized stones, "le Polissoir"- a rare polishing stone, and the "Roche aux Fees"- one of the Megalithic wonders of France. Kate will also discuss some unexplored and ignored sites ripe for investigation!. Using these examples Kate hopes to introduce the listener to the diversity of French Megalithic culture throughout history.

Brian Halliwell BA

THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES - Stranger than Fiction - An amazing " True Story "

In the months before a terrible tragedy, the inhabitants of a small American town had been haunted by mysterious manifestations and mystery lights had traveled over the town.
UFO mania gripped the people - Then the Mothman came !

The possible solution to the mystery - is as strange as the mystery itself.

Brian has been studying strange phenomena for many years and is a well known professional speaker.

Meghan Rice BA (hons) MA

Sheela-na-gigs: The Myths and the Mystery

Many people are familiar with the figure of the green man leering down at them from buildings old and new in both wood and stone but fewer are aware of a more shocking figure present on churches and castles all over Britain and Ireland, Sheela-na-gigs! How old are they? Why are they there? Who made them? What do they mean? Are Sheela-na-gigs the remnants of an ancient fertility cult or are they merely pornographic? I have been researching Sheela-na-gigs for the past 5 years beginning with my undergraduate dissertation and welcome the opportunity to share my knowledge with you! Bring and open mind and a sense of humour. Content will contain images and discussion of representations of the female and male genitalia in art and may not be suitable for younger audience members and personal discretion is advised.

Meghan has studies history both in the United States and at King’s College London and is planning to continue her education with a PhD course in 2010. Academically her background is in history and archaeology. Meghans great love is studying various aspects of magic, spirituality, and world mythology. She is also a certified herbalist in the United States where she grew up through the Green Witch School of Herbalism in Salem, Massachusetts, has studied holistic midwifery, and is a tribal belly dancer.

Neil McDonald BA (Hons)

Neil runs tours to ancient, mystical and historical sites throughout Britain and Europe and the Cathar Country Tour, which runs every June, has become a fascination to him and a great interest. Neil’s presentation will look into the mysteries of this amazing area of Southern France’s Languedoc and Aude Valley, which have been the home to the mighty Visigoths, the Knights Templar and the curious sect of Catharism. More recently they were the home of Berenger Sauniere, the priest of the hill top hamlet of Renne-le-Chateau, who’s intriguing story inspired a BBC documentary series, which was followed by the World best seller, Holy Blood and Holy Grail and then the international block-buster novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’, which was turned into a massively successful Hollywood Movie. Neil will cover the Mysteries of Mount Cardou, the Mystery of the Cathars, The Mystery of Sauniere and Rennes-le-Chateau, the Mystery of the Twin Towers, Mysterious Deaths, The Mystery of the Knight Templar - the Real Knight of the Grail and the Mystery of the Nazis - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Solomon.
