CLICK HERE FOR ANGLESEY TOUR PHOTOS (2005)--------CLICK HERE FOR ANGLESEY TOUR PHOTOS (2006) White Knight says to Alice, Lewis Carrol, Through the Looking Glass Across the narrow stretch of sea known as the Menai Strait or 'Afon Menai' is Anglesey, a mystical oasis which was the last strong hold of the ancient Druids, who held the island against the Roman invasion and apparently insurmountable odds. Continuing the islands sacred heritage, in later years it witnessed the settlement of the two monks, St Cebi the Dark and St Seiriol the Fair, who set up monasteries at Holyhead and Holy Penmon. At Lligwy we will walk through the centuries on this island, which holds some of the most interesting, unusual and well-preserved sites in the Britain, including the famous Bryn Celli Dhu. We will traverse the island to see as much as we can possible fit in to this weekend exploration. B&B will be in the beautiful Cemaes Bay. Neil's book 'Anglesey, a Megalithic Journey', (pictures above), was published in early 2010. 2 days £245 - including transport, B&B, all site visits (£20 single supp) |
